How We Rate Online Casinos
Understand what our 1–5 star ratings mean, how we assess Trust, Games, Bonuses and Support, and how the four scores combine into a casino’s overall rating.
Trust
Licence, operator transparency, withdrawal conditions, operating history and reputation.
Games
Game selection, software providers and diversity across slots, table games, live casino and other formats.
Bonuses
Promotional variety, recurring offers and the terms that affect how each bonus can actually be used.
Support
Contact options, availability, supported languages, response speed and the quality of the answers we receive when testing support.
Every casino reviewed by Go Spin Casino is assessed across four categories: Trust, Games, Bonuses and Support. Each category receives a score from 1 to 5 stars, and all four have equal weight in the overall rating.
The category scores show where a casino performs strongly and where there are limitations. Their average produces the overall rating shown in our reviews.
What Does a Go Spin Casino Rating Mean?
A Go Spin Casino rating is an editorial assessment based on the four areas used in our rating system.
A higher score reflects stronger results across the factors assessed within those categories. A lower score indicates that we identified more significant limitations.
The four category ratings use whole numbers from 1 to 5. The overall rating can contain a decimal because it is calculated from the average of those four scores.
For example, an overall rating of 3.5/5 means the four category scores average 3.5. The individual Trust, Games, Bonuses and Support scores show what produced that result.
How We Calculate the Overall Casino Rating
Trust, Games, Bonuses and Support each contribute 25% to the overall rating.
The overall score is the simple average of the four category scores.
For example:
- Trust: 3/5
- Games: 4/5
- Bonuses: 4/5
- Support: 3/5
The calculation is:
(3 + 4 + 4 + 3) ÷ 4 = 3.5
The casino’s overall rating is therefore:
3.5/5
How to Interpret Our 1–5 Star Ratings
The same 1–5 scale is used for all four categories.
The scale is consistent, but each category measures different factors. A 3/5 in Trust therefore represents different strengths and limitations from a 3/5 in Games.
These ratings are based on structured editorial judgement rather than a fixed points formula. We do not use mechanical rules such as a specific number of games, providers or promotions automatically producing a particular score.
Our Four Casino Rating Categories
Each category focuses on a different part of the casino. The individual score reflects the combination of factors assessed within that area rather than one feature on its own.
Trust
Trust assesses the casino’s licensing, operator transparency, policies, withdrawal conditions, operating history and reputation.
We consider:
- the gambling licence and regulatory body;
- whether the licence information can be verified;
- the operator and company behind the casino;
- Terms & Conditions and other relevant policies;
- withdrawal limits and processing conditions;
- verification requirements that can affect withdrawals;
- how long the casino has been operating;
- operating history and reputation;
- recurring complaint patterns or other documented concerns where relevant.
Licensing is an important part of Trust, but a licence does not determine the score on its own. Regulatory requirements and levels of oversight can differ between jurisdictions, so licensing is considered together with the operator’s policies, withdrawal conditions, history and other Trust factors.
1–2/5 Trust indicates significant or multiple limitations within the areas above. These may involve transparency, withdrawal conditions, limited operating history or relevant concerns identified during the assessment.
3/5 Trust generally means the casino performs adequately across several Trust factors but still has noticeable limitations.
4/5 Trust reflects stronger evidence across most of the areas assessed, with relatively few important weaknesses.
5/5 Trust represents the strongest combination of licensing, operator transparency, withdrawal conditions, operating history and reputation under our Trust criteria.
A 5/5 Trust rating does not guarantee that every player will have the same experience or that no problems can occur.
Games
Trust assesses the casino’s licensing, operator transparency, policies, withdrawal conditions, operating history and reGames assesses the scale and diversity of the casino’s game catalogue.
We consider:
- total number of games;
- number of software providers;
- provider diversity;
- slots;
- table games;
- live casino games;
- other relevant game types;
- the balance of the catalogue across different categories.
A larger game count does not automatically result in a higher rating. A casino with thousands of games concentrated in one category may provide less variety than a smaller catalogue spread across multiple game types and providers.
1–2/5 Games indicates a limited catalogue, restricted provider coverage or significant gaps across important game categories.
3/5 Games generally reflects an adequate selection, but with noticeable limitations in scale, providers or diversity.
4/5 Games indicates a broad and varied catalogue across most of the areas we assess.
5/5 Games represents the strongest combination of catalogue size, provider diversity and coverage across game types under our Games criteria.
Bonuses
Bonuses assesses both the promotions available and the conditions attached to them.
We consider:
- welcome bonuses;
- reload offers;
- free spins;
- cashback;
- other recurring promotions;
- variety and frequency of offers;
- advertised promotional value;
- wagering requirements;
- minimum qualifying deposits;
- expiry periods;
- eligible and excluded games;
- maximum bet rules;
- maximum cashout and other relevant restrictions.
The headline value is only one part of the assessment.
For example, a 200% bonus can be less practical than a smaller offer when it comes with restrictive wagering, a short expiry period or a low maximum cashout.
1–2/5 Bonuses indicates limited promotional choice, restrictive conditions or several weaknesses across the offers assessed.
3/5 Bonuses generally reflects a reasonable promotional offering with noticeable limitations in variety, frequency, value or terms.
4/5 Bonuses indicates a strong combination of promotional choice and conditions with relatively minor limitations.
5/5 Bonuses represents the strongest combination of variety, recurring offers and bonus terms under our Bonuses criteria.
Support
Support assesses how accessible and useful the casino’s customer service is when assistance is required.
We consider:
- live chat;
- email;
- telephone and other relevant contact methods;
- how easy support is to find and access;
- opening hours;
- 24/7 availability;
- supported languages.
We also test customer support directly. Our team contacts the casino and assesses how quickly it responds, whether the answer addresses the question asked and how useful the information provided is.
The number of contact methods therefore does not determine the rating on its own. A casino with several support channels can still receive a lower score if responses are slow or fail to provide useful clarification.
1–2/5 Support indicates significant limitations in availability, accessibility, languages, response times or the quality of the assistance provided.
3/5 Support generally means assistance is available and functional but has noticeable limitations in one or more of those areas.
4/5 Support reflects broad availability and generally clear, useful assistance during our assessment.
5/5 Support represents the strongest combination of accessibility, availability, language coverage, response speed and answer quality under our Support criteria.
Why Two Casinos Can Have the Same Overall Rating
Two casinos can receive the same overall rating through different combinations of category scores.
Casino A performs more strongly in Trust, while Casino B receives higher Games and Bonuses scores.
Both reach the same overall average, but the category breakdown shows that their strengths and limitations are different.
If one particular area matters more to you, check the individual category scores rather than relying only on the overall number.
How We Check the Information Behind Our Ratings
Our ratings use information we can verify rather than relying only on headline claims made by the casino.
Depending on the category, we review:
- casino Terms & Conditions and published policies;
- operator and company details;
- licensing information;
- withdrawal rules, limits and processing conditions;
- game and software-provider information;
- bonus terms available at the time of review;
- customer support information.
We also contact customer support directly as part of the Support assessment.
For Trust, operating history and player feedback can provide additional context. A single complaint is not treated as evidence of a broader problem. We look for recurring patterns and consider the available information in context.
Where information cannot be verified, we do not present an assumption as a confirmed fact.
What Is Not Included in the Rating?
A Go Spin Casino review covers more information than the four categories used to calculate the rating.
This can include areas such as:
- available deposit methods;
- account currencies;
- country restrictions;
- mobile access;
- general casino deposit limits;
- other operator-specific features.
These details can still be important when deciding whether a casino suits your location or preferences, but they do not create an additional rating category and do not automatically increase or reduce the overall score.
For example, accepting cryptocurrency, providing a dedicated mobile app or supporting a particular deposit method does not by itself result in a higher rating.
Some details can still affect the rating when they form part of one of the four categories. Withdrawal conditions, for example, are included in Trust. Similarly, the minimum deposit required for a specific promotion can affect the Bonuses assessment even though a casino’s general minimum deposit is not a separate rating factor.
For operator-specific information beyond the four scores, the full Go Spin Casino review should be considered alongside the rating.
Affiliate Relationships and Casino Ratings
Go Spin Casino uses affiliate links and may receive compensation from some operators when users follow those links and meet the relevant conditions.
These commercial relationships are separate from the criteria used to assess Trust, Games, Bonuses and Support.
Affiliate relationships do not add points to any category and do not determine the overall rating.
Go Spin Casino Rating FAQs
A 3/5 means the casino meets the core criteria assessed within that category but has noticeable limitations. The nature of those limitations depends on whether the score applies to Trust, Games, Bonuses or Support.
A 3.5/5 means the average of the four category scores is 3.5. The individual Trust, Games, Bonuses and Support scores show which areas contributed more strongly or more weakly to that result.
Trust, Games, Bonuses and Support each account for 25% of the overall rating. The four category scores are added together and divided by four. The overall value shown on the site is displayed to one decimal place.
Commercial relationships do not add points to Trust, Games, Bonuses or Support and do not determine the overall rating.
